Ancient madder is among the most sought-after printed silks and is widely regarded as the pinnacle of printing.
It is traditionally screen-printed by hand in Macclesfield, England, and today there are only 2 mills that still produce authentic madder.
Ancient madder can be characterized by its chalky feel, which is a result of the silk slightly breaking down during the dying process. Madder dye allows for more deep and rich colorations, making it perfect for darker tones, as well as various mid-light tones.
This tie features a medium blue base color, with large falling blocks consisting of brown and green tones. It was hand-crafted by our skilled craftsman, in Naples, Italy, giving you a taste of the best both England and Italy have to offer.
