Ancient Madder Ties

Ancient Madder is among the most rare and expensive silks in the world. It is created by soaking twill silk in madder dye, which slightly breaks the silk down, giving it a more deep coloration and distinct chalky feel. It was once produced in a number of mills across England, but now it is only made in a couple mills in Macclesfield, England.
